Catherine Kirkpatrick is an award-winning photographer and writer based in New York City. In 2014, she wrote the introduction for Meryl Meisler's A Tale of Two Cities: Disco Era Bushwick that has gotten great press, including articles by the New York Times and the New Yorker, where she was quoted. The book was featured on the homepage of the PDN website, and will also be featured in Meisler's upcoming interview on PBS. She also wrote the intro for Meisler's second book SASSY 70s: Purgatory & Paradise in 2015 and was again quoted on Kirkpatrick's own work was included in the 2016 book Making History: Bushwick. She has a studio there, and has participated in the last three Bushwick Open Studios. 

She is currently working on an oral history about the changes in photography over the past few decades called Voices & Visions: Making Photographs in the Digital Age.

She has also written for Professional Women Photographers, where she served on the board for five years, and one of her articles, Sgt. Pepper Uncovered, was named by PhotoShelter to their list of Top Photography Blog Posts of 2011. On the PWP blog she also created 30 by 30, a series of articles about 30 women photographers and the women photographers who inspired them. It ran during Women's History Month 2012, and included photo luminaries Vicki Goldberg, NY Times Pulitzer Prize-winning photographer Ruth Fremson. The series was featured on the 3rd Ward blog, Time Light Box, and the blog of Elizabeth Avedon. She also writes for Arts in Bushwick, where she has a studio, and does freelance writing, editing and graphics.

in 2012, she worked as a regular (TV) camera person on the Sissy Gamache show, and produced and edited her own half hour talk show on the MNN network. She also founded the New York Book Society, which participated in the 2014 Brooklyn Book Festival.

Her photographs have appeared in the Tulane Review and Camera Arts Magazine, and have been exhibited widely, including a 2002 group show at the United Nations. Her artist’s books have been shown at the Leipzig Book Fair, the Seoul International Book Fiar and the Villa Borbone in Vioreggio, Italy.
